Evil Geniuses has announced its latest addition to its CSGO roster. The North American roster has signed Owen “oBo” Schlatter to the squad, after it recently gound itself without a fifth player.
oBo finds himself with a team after he decided to leave the Complexity line-up back in September 2020. The player decided that being stuck in Europe during the pandemic was not something he was fond of. After living in quarantine Europe for several months, the player returned home to North America. Since then, he has sat waiting for his contract to expire, which occurred in December, but has now only just found a team.
Evil Geniuses found themselves in a bit of a pickle recently. After departing the IEM Katowice 2021 event, Ethan “Ethan” Arnold announced his departure from the Team Liquid CSGO roster, switching over to 100 Thieves’ Valorant side. He joins a long list of North American players departing CSGO.
Evil Geniuses needed that fifth player pronto, and one of North America’s best players is available. However, one question remains is how will oBo react to another year of quarantining? Several events have mixed region competition, meaning EG could travel to Europe for events. There could be some internal issues that come about as a result of the roster.
Despite this, the roster has time to embed the player in as they have several weeks before they need to compete in the ESL Pro League Group D. The roster will play against Astralis, Team Liquid, Virtus.pro, Endpoint, and Fnatic. Evil Geniuses has had no problem taking on these teams in the past. Bringing a young star player like this could be exactly what EG need to get back to the top of the CSGO global scene.
Evil Geniuses is scheduled to compete on 25 March at 19:00 CET and 13:00 EST. They will play against Astralis in their first game back, presuming nothing else pops up beforehand.
